Should you wish to make the move to Chatsford:-

Step Two: Becoming a Chatsford resident

Moving to Chatsford is similar to moving to any new home:-
  • You decide you wish to join the Chatsford community and find a suitable home
  • Once you decide to proceed, you notify us that you would like to go ahead
  • We will arrange for all the necessary documentation to be forwarded to your Solicitor for evaluation and discussion with you
  • A value is agreed for the Occupation Right of the home of your choice and you sign the Occupation Right Agreement and get this witnessed by your solicitor. From this point, the Retirement Villages Act 2003 provides a fifteen working day "cooling off" period during which you can change your mind. You may also attach conditions to this agreement - such as successfully completing the sale of your existing home. Once all conditions have been met you can move in and begin enjoying the Chatsford Lifestyle.

Step Three: Welcome to Chatsford!

We are certain that you will enjoy both your home and your lifestyle at Chatsford. However, if for any reason you decide Chatsford is not right for you, you can take advantage of our Lifestyle Guarantee. We believe this policy to be the first of its kind in New Zealand.

How does the Lifestyle Guarantee work?

Any Resident who changes their mind about Chatsford simply notifies management in writing within six months of settling in their new home. If you choose to move from Chatsford within this period, and a new Occupation Right Agreement for your home is issued within a further 6 months of the date of notification, you will not be required to pay the Community Contribution and Village Trust Contribution deductions normally required when exiting Chatsford*.

* Note: Some conditions apply. Normal expenses payable when leaving the community such as legal costs, community outgoings, and outstanding maintenance or personal service charges may still apply. See our Occupation Right Agreement for full details.
