One of the joys of living in Chatsford community is the wealth of on-site services located within easy walking distance of all residents. Gone are the days of worrying about transport and parking when you can simply find what you need right where you live.
A modern on-site hairdresser located within our community centre is available four days a week from 9am to 4pm. This popular service provides full cutting, colouring and setting and is equally comfortable with both men and women clients.
Another welcome on-site service is the regular fortnightly visits of a professional podiatrist to help maintain good feet health and wellbeing.
Scotts Dental Laboratory at Chatsford provides the services of a dental technician competent in denture repair services, or a complete rebuild if needed. This service is available by appointment.
A Bay Audiology hearing acoustician visits Chatsford four times a year.
Feel the need for a bit of pampering? A beauty therapist gives regular consultations at Chatsford on a 4-6 weekly cycle.
A WINZ representative visits us on a monthly basis to assist residents complete any paper work or help or with any other Work and Income inquiries.
Chatsford community has access to the services of a Justice of the Peace. Our non-denominational chaplain, Laurie Rankin, along with two other residents, are long-standing JPs.
Many transport options are available on-site to help make residents’ lives easy. Our courtesy coach travels to and from the local Mosgiel shopping precinct daily from Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays).
A regular public bus service into Dunedin city is provided from a bus stop within our grounds. The Go Bus Service also has a bus stop just outside the Chatsford entrance on Doon Street. This stop is part of a 45 minute regular circuit which stops in several areas of Mosgiel.
Chatsford residents can choose to receive the full or individual elements of our hospitality service package. This includes a meal service; housekeeping services (i.e. a laundry service, house cleaning service), and for occasional days of illness, there is limited personal assistance available at the push of a button.
For those wishing to take advantage of the full package, or parts thereof, this service is provided on a cost recovery basis with no profit margin added.
If a resident of Chatsford requires long term residential care, they are assured of priority access to the Birchleigh Residential Care Centre, located adjacent to Chatsford.
Birchleigh provides specialist rest home, dementia and long stay hospital care from a large and modern purpose built facility.
In addition to offering long term care the Birchleigh Residential Care Centre also caters for respite care, day care, convalescent care (after an operation) and carer support, which is an option that can be used to give a spouse/caregiver a little respite when needed.
Demand is high for all levels of care provided by Birchleigh, so immediate access to rooms cannot be guaranteed.
